Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentistry Comes to Britain!

In comparison to the U.S.A., the U.K. has long been considered the 'poor cousin' when it comes to dentistry. Whilst the Austin Powers stereotype has become less true of late, it is hard to deny that dental care has been overlooked in Britain for decades, with limited options for patients, and an over-reliance on purely conservative treatments, such as fillings, and root canals (the kind of things that no one enjoys!).

However, with each passing year, there is a greater awareness of the benefits of restorative dental care that is intended to not simply slow the deterioration of teeth, but to reverse the process. More and more people throughout the country are looking for better solutions to damaged, misaligned, and discoloured teeth, and new ways to fix a crooked smile. Unsurprisingly, techniques pioneered in the United States are those most in demand.

Leading the way in this field, and amongst the first to introduce cutting edge U.S. dental expertise to the U.K., is Dr. Sam Sherif of the Cosmetic Dental Centre at the Alexandra Private Hospital in Chesterfield. After earning his dentistry degree from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' in London, Dr. Sherif moved to the United States, where he completed an intensive five year residency at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and a doctorate degree from Harvard Medical School.

Perhaps the most striking difference in dental care that Dr. Sherif is introducing are two procedures almost unheard of on this side of the Atlantic: All Teeth Replacement, and Teeth-in-an-Hour™. Whereas traditional methods of dentistry in Britain can require a patient to make numerous visits to a dental practice over a period of months, enduring hours of prolonged, often painful (and expensive) treatment, these revolutionary procedures allow a patient to begin and complete his or her treatment in a single visit. The key to these innovative techniques is the experience that Dr. Sherif has using patented 3D dental software to map out the patient's teeth, pinpoint precisely where the implants (all tailor made in the laboratory before surgery) will be inserted, and perform the entire procedure in an hour.

Another novel solution to age old dental complaints are the almost invisible braces known as Invisalign®. Up until recently, those who wanted to correct serious orthodontic problems had to bear the discomfort, and self-consciousness of prominent metal braces (an obvious disincentive for adults). By contrast, Invisalign® braces are almost unseen, removable, and so comfortable that many patients forget that they are even wearing them.
